I have a replacement light and fender which someone with a little car knowledge could put back together. The car also has not been started in about 4 years, but was garage kept the whole time. Other than that everything else in the car is just fine. Any help would be much appreciated. If the frame is as damaged as you make it seem, you'd be lucky yo get $500 for it (especially give that it hasn't been started in so long and the reliability is pretty much a coin-toss at best). Part it out if the engine and trans are in good shape you'll probably get more money that way as if you sell the whole car since the frame is damaged......look around online how much a camaro engine would sell for or local scrap yards any mechanics you might know or stop at any autoshop and ask how much an engine would be...... and any other part you think would be worth some cash or people might have and interest in.and you can scrap the car as metal ounce all you have left is the crashed shell that is what auto recyclers do! A fair price, is whatever price the buyer offers, and the seller agrees to. With more information, I could give you a better answer. With only the year and the make, here's the best I can do. With the extent of the damages you are describing, I'm going to assume that even if the car is fixed, you or a prospective buyer could well be dealing with a salvaged title here when all is said and done. It's been four years since anything was done with this car, and sitting for that period of time does not make things better for it as far as value goes. Here is my suggestion: Put together all the information you have on the car: Year, make & model, miles, trim level, and any other specific information. Then do an internet search for book values on used cars. You'll find two reliable sites out there. Use the middle number (or good condition) of the trade-in values shown for the car, and you'll be very close to what its clean loan value would be if it was in great condition. Add $1700 to that number, and you'll be close to fair market value (again, if it was in great condition). Now divide the number by two to calculate the value of this vehicle if fixed but having a "salvaged" designation on the title. Yes, it's repaired value is half of fair market value. Next, get an approximate bill to bring the car up to completely repaired status, and subtract that money from your total as well. Your cars actual value will be around $1000 less than this number. You have to take into consideration that others will not appreciate the inconvenience of having to fix it before they drive it. There has to be some gain for doing all the work. Eagle . Torque Converters ExplainedVehicles equipped with an automatic transmission use a torque converter instead of a clutch, which allows the vehicle to idle without propelling the vehicle. Once the vehicle's engine reaches a certain speed, the torque converter routs the power produced by the engine to the transmission. This is referred to as the torque converter's "stall speed." What a Torque Converter Does A torque converter actually does three tasks: first, a torque converter transfers the power generated by the engine to the transmission's input shaft. Secondly, it multiplies the torque produced by the engine to give the engine a mechanical advantage by about a 2:1 ratio. Thirdly, a torque converter turns the transmission's front pump to produce the hydraulic pressure the transmission requires to properly function. Components of a Torque Converter A torque converter should be thought of as two halves. The half connected to the engine is called the front shell or "impeller," while the half connected to the transmission is called the rear shell. Between the impeller and the rear shell is the stator, the turbine and the sprag. Torque Converter Process The turbine connects to the main shaft of the transmission, and the impeller attaches to the crankshaft, which causes it to spin at engine speeds. As the impeller spins, it draws in transmission fluid through its center, then forces that fluid out of its fins. The highly pressured fluid then acts on the blades of the turbine, which causes the turbine to spin. When the impeller spins faster than the turbine, the stator operates to redirect the transmission fluid back to the impeller to increase the pressure by which the fluid exerts against the fins of the turbine at low speeds, which multiplies torque. If the transmission is in gear and the engine is idling, applying the brake causes enough drag to allow the impeller to spin independently of the turbine. Stall Speed Stall speed is the maximum speed at which the turbine can be held steady at wide open throttle. Simply put, a converter's stall speed is the speed at which an engine must turn, as measured by revolutions per minute or "rpms," to begin moving the vehicle. As the engine speed increases, the stator within the converter spins along with the rest of the converter, and is responsible for getting the vehicle moving when the accelerator is depressed. Choosing Stall Speed How to choose a torque converter's stall speed is by far the most common question regarding torque converters. The important factor to remember is that the converter's stall speed is the speed at which the engine must turn before the vehicle will begin to move. Car enthusiasts often replace the stock converter with one which allows the engine to reach a higher speed before the vehicle begins to move. Delaying the point at which the vehicle will begin to move allows the engine to reach the speed where it begins to make its power. Stock converters typically have a stall speed of between 1,400 to 1,800 rpm, while slightly modified engines may use a converter with a stall speed of approximately 2,400 rpms. Race engines frequently use torque converters with a stall speed of 3,500 rpms.

Because coolant is toxic, it can harm animals, who love its sweet taste (see "Keeping coolant out of the mouths of babes and small animals" later in this chapter). If you don't have coolant on hand and you just need to add a little liquid, plain old tap water will do. But try to maintain a good coolant level by adding a similar amount of straight coolant the next time you add liquid to the system. Several types of coolant are on the market. If your vehicle has an aluminum engine, make sure that the coolant container specifies that it's safe for alu minum engines. If you have extended-life coolant in the system, only add extended-life coolant to it.
